An evening on the Communion of Saints
This is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (18-25 January). To celebrate this, we are to host an evening on the Communion of Saints on Tuesday 20 Jan at 7.30pm. All are welcome to attend what we hope will be an open and ecumenical conversation. Brian Haymes and Richard Kidd, co-authors, with Paul Fiddes, of Baptists and the Communion of Saints will help us to think about a neglected doctrine not usually associated with Baptists. Please join us if you can and bring your questions!

Advent Wednesdays at DBC
Please join us if you can for any of the first three Wednesdays of December at DBC. We will begin with a meal followed by an act of worship. We will eat at 6.30pm and meet (promptly) at 8.00pm. If you are planning to eat with us, it would help if you let us know ahead of time. If you are turning up for the worship, please arrive a little early (say, by 7.45) so that we can start the worship on time – there will be a cup of tea or coffee going if you would like one before we start. The worship themes will be as follows:
Wednesday 3 December:
Watching and Waiting
Wednesday 10 December:
Listening
Wednesday 17 December:
Darkness and Light
On Wednesday 24 December we will hold our Carols by Candlelight service at 6.30pm; we would love to see you there.

Ernie Whalley to visit DBC
On Sunday 19 January, Ernie Whalley, President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, will be our guest preacher. He will participate in our service of worship for all ages at 10.30 a.m. He will then speak and lead some discussion in our second session at 11.45. He will speak on Like stars in the universe (Philippians 2) and help us to think about living as Christians in contemporary society. At 12.30 there will be a bring-and-share lunch. If you are a member of our congregation, we invite you to bring some lunch; if you are visiting, just come along and enjoy! Please join us for part or all the programme on Sunday 19th. If you are arriving for the second session, please be aware that we serve tea and coffee from about 11.15; you would be welcome to arrive at any time during our coffee break – and enjoy a cup of coffee with us.

Second Sunday
This Sunday (8 Sept) we begin a new format for our gathering that we expect to repeat every second Sunday of each month. We will start as usual at 10.30am when we will worship together with all ages for about 45 minutes before breaking for coffee. We will reconvene at 11.45 when adults and young people will learn together while the children gather in their groups. This will be followed by a bring and share lunch at about 12.30. The subject this Sunday will be Deepening Your Prayer Life. If you are free to join us for any or all of these activities you would be most welcome.
