Christian Aid Evening at DBC tonight

Join us tonight to get inspired and ready for Christian Aid Week 2015 (10-15 May)

International Women’s Day event at DBC

We are delighted to be hosting an event for International Women’s Day at Didsbury Baptist Church again this year. International Women’s Day is, of course, 8 March but the event being held at DBC will take place this Saturday (7 March) between 2 and 4 p.m. Details below:

Brian Haymes at DBC this Sunday

biblematt17Brian Haymes will lead worship and preach at DBC on Sunday. In Young Church the children are using Scripture Union materials and we are following their themes in the main service. On Sunday we will consider Jesus in his glory. Brian will preach on the transfiguration of Jesus and will base his thoughts on the biblical texts: Matthew 17.1-9 and Colossians 1.15-20. We start at 10.30 a.m. and Communion will be celebrated. We use gluten-free bread and non-alcoholic wine. Come and worship with us if you can. All are welcome and if you are visiting for the first time, we would be delighted to meet you.

Second Sunday

SSlogo01aIt’s Second Sunday this week

Join us for worship, learning and lunch

We change our programme a little every second Sunday of the month at DBC. We start as usual at 10.30am with worship but our service is shorter and is for all ages. Creche space is available but we invite the children and young people to stay in with us. Young Church happens later, at 11.45, after a coffee break. The adults and young people also meet together at this time for a teaching and learning session. This week we will be discussing Christ and other faiths. After that we have a bring-and-share lunch. So the schedule this Sunday will be:
10.30 all age worship
11.15 tea and coffee
11.45 teaching and learning session and Young Church
12.30 bring-and-share lunch
Please feel free to join us for any or all these activities.

Simply Jesus Reading Group

Simply Jesus 250xAn enthusiastic new group has begun meeting more-or-less fortnightly at Didsbury Baptist Church to discuss Tom Wright’s excellent book Simply Jesus. The next meeting will take place on Monday 10 February at 7.30pm when the discussion will centre on chapters 4 and 5 (pages 27 to 55). Dates of future meetings are 24 February, 10 and 31 March and 14 April. If you would like to join us for any or all these gatherings you would be most welcome.

Ernie Whalley to visit DBC

On Sunday 19 January, Ernie Whalley, President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, will be our guest preacher. He will participate in our service of worship for all ages at 10.30 a.m. He will then speak and lead some discussion in our second session at 11.45. He will speak on Like stars in the universe (Philippians 2) and help us to think about living as Christians in contemporary society. At 12.30 there will be a bring-and-share lunch. If you are a member of our congregation, we invite you to bring some lunch; if you are visiting, just come along and enjoy! Please join us for part or all the programme on Sunday 19th. If you are arriving for the second session, please be aware that we serve tea and coffee from about 11.15; you would be welcome to arrive at any time during our coffee break – and enjoy a cup of coffee with us.
